Imogen Poots joins the cast of ‘The Father’

Imogen Poots, Mark Gatiss, Rufus Sewell, and Olivia Williams have joined Anthony Hopkins and Olivia Colman in the cast of Florian Zeller’s “The Father,” the feature film adaptation of his award-winning stage play, Variety has confirmed. Embankment represents worldwide sales, excluding France. CAA, UTA and Embankment co-represent the U.S.

Imogen Poots will co-star actress Olivia Williams once more, their first joined project was the 2007 BBC television drama film Miss Austen Regrets.

In “The Father,” Hopkins plays the title role, a mischievous and highly independent man who, as he ages, refuses all assistance from his daughter Anne (Colman). Yet such help has become essential, following Anne’s decision to move to Paris with her partner. “As Anne’s father tries to make sense of his changing circumstances, he begins to doubt his loved ones, his own mind and even the fabric of his reality,” according to Embankment.

The 2012 play, written and directed by Zeller, was first launched in Paris, winning a Moliere Award for best play, before hitting Broadway and London’s West End, where it won both Tony and Olivier awards for best actor. Zeller directs from a screenplay he co-wrote with Christopher Hampton (“Atonement,” “Dangerous Liaisons”). Continue reading

The Look of Love [HD Caps + Photos]

As you can see, we freshened up the site’s design and it’s now responsive so hopefully you’re having an easier time navigating it on your smartphone or tablet. Again it’s time to go back to completing the photogallery. Today we added 2600+ HD screencaps from the 2013 film called The Look of Love, where Imogen plays Debbie Raymond, the lead character’s daughter. This film is a biopic, or more accurately inspired by real people and events and it focuses on Paul Raymond, the wealthiest man in Britain, who build a porn, entertainment and real estate empire. Imogen plays his beloved daughter who dreams of becoming a singer but unfortunately is introduced to drugs by her father. Her role is substantial, so if you like biopics, you may enjoy it. The film also stars Steve Coogan, Anna Friel and Stephen Fry. We also added 15 production stills, a behind the scenes photo, a promotional shoot photo and 4 posters to the photogallery. Take a look at everything!

The Art of Self Defense (First Still)

The Art of Self-Defense is hard to describe — even for Jesse Eisenberg, who uses words such as “strange,” “heightened,” and “unbelievably hysterical.” In the upcoming film from writer-director Riley Stearns, the Oscar-nominated actor stars as Casey, a timid loner who, after a violent attack, comes under the tutelage of a charismatic karate instructor simply named Sensei (Alessandro Nivola).  The Social Network star was initially concerned he was being offered another “typical nervous male protagonist role,” which he had no interest in repeating.

“It seems like it’s going to be a typical story of an average man finding his inner strength,” he shares. “And I didn’t want to do that kind of movie because I felt that I had done similar kinds of movies. But I thought the script was so funny that I just kept reading out of curiosity, and thank God I did, because the movie so brilliantly subverts that trope. It becomes this very unusual, surreal, but wry commentary on the absurdities of masculinity.”

Imogen Poots to star in ‘Prisoners of the Ghostland’

The post-apocalyptic action-horror is the first English-language film from Japanese auteur Sion Sono. Imogen Poots has joined Nicolas Cage in Japanese auteur Sion Sono’s first English-language feature, the post-apocalyptic action-horror film Prisoners of the Ghostland, which XYZ is shopping in Berlin. Patriot Pictures and Union Patriot Capital Management have also boarded the project, written by Aaron Hendry and Reza Sixo Safai, to produce and fully finance. Described by Cage himself as possibly his “wildest movie” ever — and this after his insane blood-soaked psychedelic 2018 hit Mandy — Prisoners of the Ghostland is billed as an “East meets West vortex of beauty and violence.”

When a notorious criminal, Hero (Cage), is sent to rescue an abducted girl (Poots) who has disappeared into a dark supernatural universe, they must break the evil curse that binds them and escape the mysterious revenants that rule the Ghostland.

The film — slated to start shooting this spring — is being produced by Laura Rister for Untitled Entertainment; Michael Mendelsohn for Patriot Pictures/UPCM; Ko Mori for Eleven Arts; Reza Sixo Safai of Black Light District Entertainment; and Nate Bolotin for XYZ Films.
